Kudos to Lynx Basketball Coach Clarence Sales on hosting the Lynx Basketball Challenge, featuring 10 boys’ 8th and 9th-grade teams and four girls’ 8th and 9th-grade teams. The teams, including two from Aiea, started play Friday afternoon at the Wilcox Gymnasium on the Island School campus. They’ll continue to play through the championship bracket on Sunday, where the teams will meet at the old Kauai High School gym.
There’s still time to get the discounted Rotary Club of Kapaa Taste of Hawaii tickets online at www.tasteofhawaii.net. Otherwise, it’s chancing it at the gate on Sunday from 11:30 a.m. at the Smith’s Tropical Paradise…parking is at Vidinha Stadium.
And, if you haven’t signed up for Emily Medeiros’ Ladies Soccer event benefiting the American Cancer Society, the event, which supports breast cancer research, is on June 8, starting at 9 a.m. at the Jeanette and Harry Weinberg fields near Lydgate Park.
Okay, it’s time to check out The Grove Farm Market that will welcome its craft fair component on June 7 (isn’t that the same day as the Kauai Pride Parade?), just in time for Father’s Day (Harvey Maeda and the Kauai Classic Cars is hosting their Father’s Day Celebration at Kukui Grove Center where people enjoying The King’s Parade can swing over after the parade).
