The news was shared by Mary Lardizabal, a close family friend of the Iloretas.
“Josh and his family relocated to Texas this past year,” Lardizabal said. “Josh was very excited about his victories and wanted to share his accomplishments with Kauai.”
While on Kauai, Iloreta was an active Special Olympics Kauai athlete. With the help of his brother, he participated in more extreme events such as The Kauai Marathon and Half Marathon.
During the 2025 State Special Olympics Summer Games that started on May 1, Iloreta participated in Motorized Wheelchair, 30 and 50 meter Slalom. He earned gold medal finishes in both events.
Additionally, Lardizabal said, Iloreta participated in the Tennis Ball Throw and earned a gold medal in that event.
