KALALAU — On Friday, a distressed 67-year-old South Carolina visitor was rescued from the Kalalau Trail.
Fire officials reported that on April 18, shortly after 2:30 p.m., firefighters with the Lihue Fire Station were dispatched to a call regarding a distressed hiker on the Kalalau Trail.
First responders arrived at Kanakoa Shelter near mile marker six, where they found the hiker. The hiker was loaded onto Air 1 helicopter and taken to the Princeville Airport.
The hiker was then transferred to the Hanalei Fire Station for further evaluation. No additional details were provided regarding the identity of the hiker. The scene was closed by 4:30 p.m.
