HANAPEPE — Kapono Sullivan of the Kauai High School Red Raiders went the distance on the mound Wednesday to pick up the 7-0 win over Waimea during the Kauai Interscholastic Federation baseball game played at the Hanapepe Stadium.
Over at the Island School baseball diamond, Kapaa High School came to visit and left with a 28-0 victory in the contest shortened by the 10-run ruling in five innings.
According to data from ScoringLive.com, Kapaa threw a no-hitter against Island School, rotating between three hurlers over the 5-inning span. Kaitin Mundon has the longest stint on the hill with 26 pitches thrown in two innings. Isaiah Konishi also threw for two innings with 14 pitches thrown, and Kimo Kupihea wrapped up with one inning of work with 11 pitches let go.
Cash McCluskey suffered the loss for the Voyagers over 54 pitches. thrown over two innings. During the stint, McCluskey gave up 11 runs on 11 hits with one Warrior struck out and three Kapaa batters walking.
Mundon, the lead-off hitter for the Warriors, entered the batter’s box six times in the game where Kapaa scored runs in every one of five innings. The Warriors’ starting hurler scored twice while getting three hits, including a double and a triple, with four Runners Batted in.
Kawika Kupihea, finishing with two hits and two RBI, scored four times.

With the results of Wednesday’s games, Kapaa improves to four wins in the KIF Round 2 with two more games remaining.
Kauai follows with three wins and one game remaining before it meets Kapaa on Wednesday at Vidinha Stadium, the first pitch being thrown at 6 p.m. in a night contest.
Waimea, the holder of the KIF first round, drops to one win in Round 2, and Island School is looking for its first “W.”
