LIHUE – The Department of Parks and Recreation reminds the community that Vidinha Stadium is closed for phase I of construction through December 2025.
“Due to ongoing construction and safety concerns, Vidinha Stadium is closed to the public,” said Department of Parks and Recreation Director Pat Porter. “Park users are welcome to use the soccer and baseball fields for recreational activities during this closure.”
Signs have been installed around Vidniha Stadium, indicating its closure since the beginning of March 2025.
Contracted by Co-Ha Builders Inc. dba Applied Surfacing Technology, in collaboration with the Fukunaga & Associates Inc. engineering company, phase I improvements are estimated to be completed by December 2025. Vidinha Stadium will be closed for the duration of the improvement project. Construction for phase II will continue beyond December 2025. Updates on phase II will be announced in future news release.
The scope of the $12.2 million project includes the demolition and removal of the existing field, track, track implements, and scoreboard. Additionally, it includes the installation of a synthetic turf field, synthetic track, new track implements, and video board.
