KEO said in the announcement that mediation is a confidential process that allows disputing parties to have a peaceful and constructive discussion in front of a mediator.
The program mediates various disputes between family, friends, neighbors, landlord and tenant, business associates, and colleagues in the workplace. The program also handles divorce-related conflicts such as child custody, where mediation may assist the separating parents with their co-parenting plan for the children. Mediation is helpful in the parties’ division of assets and liabilities and any other areas where there is a conflict and they cannot come to a resolution. That is where a mediator is most beneficial.
Do you have what it takes to be a volunteer mediator at KEO? Do you want to learn, or are you a good listener? Do you like to help others resolve their issues, have patience and understanding, and have good communication skills, or do you want to learn better skills?
KEO Inc. Mediation Program has served the Kauai community for 45 years, providing quality, cost-effective, accessible mediation services. Additionally, KEO provides mediator training and related programs such as its Cooperative Parenting Workshop and Kids’ Resiliency Workshop.
