What is the difference between a Cook pine and a regular Norfolk?
What is the difference between a Cook pine and a regular Norfolk?
Rudy Sina, Chrys Martin-Rowell and Bill Skelton of the University of Hawaii Master Gardeners program did not have a special demonstration for the craft fair component of The Grove Farm Market on Saturday, but the research project on that question kept the tent lively in the wind and misting rain that didn’t appear to bother the neighboring Kalaheo Boyz baseball team that were selling Krispy Kreme donuts as a fundraiser for the OBA Tournament organized by Mililani Baseball.
Kaleah and Kayslee Duarte made their debut as keiki cashiers (and order takers) at Da Wicked Brew food trailer … when you come early to set up, there’s time for breakfast from Da Wicked Brew, and the weather did not appear to impact the Kauai Kernal (they were going to First Saturday in Kapaa, too) popcorn sales.
Congratulations, Kapaa Middle School teacher Rachel Secretario for begging plants for the school’s canot (plants) garden that will accompany the school mural that started taking place on campus. Rachel was at the Hoolaulea No Ka Honua event that worked through a morning deluge (Mary Lardizabal said the county stage only half-protected the group when the rains came) and explained why Isaiah Dosono wasn’t at the Grove Farm Market (and, he said he wasn’t planning to do First Saturday … too busy).
Kudos, too, to Alanna of Keiki to Career (you couldn’t find her because she was moving between all those vendors) on another great Keiki and Parent Fair (who had the first-born in the Kukui Grove parking lot looking for the free diapers?).
