LIHUE — Split series ruled the courts during last week’s running of Kauai Interscholastic Federation tennis that plays again this Saturday.
At the Poipu Kai Tennis Courts, the Island School designated home court, matches started at noon. At the end, the Voyager wahine were winners, four sets to one. On the boys courts, Waimea chipped out a win over the Island School boys, three sets to two.
Over at the Kapaa High School tennis courts, spectator attention was drawn between the ongoing tennis matches and the KIF softball game featuring the Kauai High School softball visiting Kapaa. Both sporting events were going on at the same time due to Kauai High School enjoying its spring prom on Saturday night.
On the tennis courts, the Warriors took all of the matches on the boys course, while the Lady Warriors managed to win a set on the girls courts when Kapaa’s duo of Rain Hannsz and Chloe Hannsz, playing on the Girls First Doubles arena, downed the Kauai High School team of Lily Corpuz and Samantha Tominaga, 6-4, 6-3.
This Saturday, the Menehune visit the Red Raiders at the new tennis courts at Kauai High School with the first matches starting at 9 a.m.
Kapaa will travel to the Poipu Kai Tennis Courts to face Island School, starting at noon.
