WAILUA — A visitor was rescued after suffering an apparent injury at Uluwehi Falls on Tuesday.
Firefighters from the Kauai Fire Department KPD responded to the emergency call shortly after 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1, for a hiker on Uluwehi Falls, also known as Secret Falls in Wailua.
Rescue 3 aboard Air 1 helicopter with crews from the Kapaa and Kaiakea fire stations and the American Medical Response AMR team dispatched to the scene.
Once on the scene, rescue crews discovered the hiker with a visible injury near Uluwehi Falls. Air 1 helicopter then short-hauled the hiker and safely transported the injured hiker near Opaekaa Falls Lookout. Once on the ground, the victim was transferred to awaiting firefighters and medics.
AMR personnel then took command of the scene and treated the injured hiker while en route to the Wilcox Medical Center in Lihue.
The scene was cleared a little after 5:35 p.m.
