HANAPEPE — There is just one baseball game scheduled for Saturday afternoon at Hanapepe Stadium when Waimea High School hosts Island School in a contest initially scheduled to be played on March 15.
HANAPEPE — There is just one baseball game scheduled for Saturday afternoon at Hanapepe Stadium when Waimea High School hosts Island School in a contest initially scheduled to be played on March 15.
Not only is this a make-up contest, but following the Wednesday KIF baseball results, in which Kapaa downed Kauai High School 7-3 and Waimea beat Island School by an unrecorded score, both Kapaa and Waimea high schools are in contention for the KIF first round.
The first pitch at Hanapepe is penned to go off at 3:30 p.m.
On Wednesday, the Red Raiders needed to mark a win. Still, they came up short after Kapaa got the better of Kauai’s starting pitcher, Kapono Sullivan, to rack up seven runs on eight hits led by Kaitlin Mundon, Pierce Rosario, and Kimo Kupihea, each whacking two hits apiece, according to Scoring Live.com.
In suffering the loss, Sullivan finished by striking out seven Kapaa batters and walking three.
Iden Kaui picked up the Kapaa win on the hill, giving up the three Kauai runs that came on six hits. He struck out three Raider batters and walked two.
The Red Raiders struck first, but Sullivan faced multiple bases-loaded situations and walked home runs by failing to get the batter out. Kapaa also pushed a pair of runs home on wild pitches for the 6-3 win while the Voyagers were duking it out with the Menehune at Vidinha Stadium.
Following the results of Wednesday’s contests, both Kapaa and Waimea are tied at 4 wins each.
