KALALAU — A 35-year-old visitor from Ohio was rescued after suffering an apparent shoulder injury on the Kalalau Trail on Thursday.
KALALAU — A 35-year-old visitor from Ohio was rescued after suffering an apparent shoulder injury on the Kalalau Trail on Thursday.
Firefighters from the Lihue Fire Station responded to the emergency call shortly after 5:30 p.m., on March 27, for an injured hiker on the Kalalau Trail on the North Shore.
Rescue personnel on board Air 1 helicopter deployed to the call. Once on the scene, firefighters discovered the hiker near Hanakapiai Beach landing zone with a visible shoulder injury. The hiker was safely loaded into Air 1 and transferred to the Princeville Airport.
Personnel from the Hanalei Fire Station and American Medical Response AMR then took command of the scene and provided further medical care to the injured hiker.
The scene was cleared a little after 6:40 p.m.
