LIHUE — Fujita & Miura Public Relations (FMPR) announced that applications are currently being accepted for the 2025 Fujita & Miura Public Relations Scholarships.
Two scholarships of $1,000 each will be awarded — one to a Kauai student, and one to a Pennsylvania student — to students pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree.
Application forms may be completed and submitted online at the FMPR website at www.fmpr.net/fmpr-scholar. The deadline for submitting and completing the application form for consideration is May 31.
“We encourage all eligible Kauai and Pennsylvania students to apply for the scholarship which will award one $1,000 scholarship each to a Kauai student and a Pennsylvania student pursuing their bachelor’s or graduate degree in the 2025 school year,” said Joy Miura Koerte, a Kauai resident and partner with FMPR.
FMPR Scholars are exemplary students and community members who demonstrate the following:
• Are pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees, preferably in communication or public relations;
• Are interested in owning or working for a small business and/or home-based business;
• Are engaged in entrepreneurial activities;
• Have the intention to return to the communities in which they grew up following undergraduate or graduate school to pursue their livelihoods;
• Are engaged in community service and wish to advance their communities;
• Have proven intellectual and academic achievements;
• Show integrity of character and an interest in helping others;
• Have the ability to lead, and the motivation to use their talents to the fullest.
Since 2009, FMPR has awarded two $1,000 scholarships each year.
“Over the years, we’ve cultivated an amazing group of scholars,” said Jenny Fujita of Pennsylvania, a partner with FMPR. “We look forward to having two more join the ranks this year.”
Established in 2000, FMPR is a full-service communications consulting firm that offers advisement on community relations, communications plans, corporate philanthropy, land use and development, and more.
“We have served a variety of clients from national and international entities that have business interests on Kauai to local mom-and-pop companies, nonprofits, and federal, state and county governments,” a FMPR press release said.
