HANAPEPE — The next Kauai Interscholastic Federation girls flag football games will kick off on Thursday at the Hanapepe Stadium with Island School serving as the hosting school.
Kauai High School girls — who currently lead the league with three wins and no losses following last week’s 21-0 win over Island School and 39-0 win over Kapaa — will open Thursday’s action against Waimea with a 4 p.m. kickoff.
The Red Raider ladies opened its first contest with a bang when Kiannah Racca took the pigskin on the first play from scrimmage and outran the Voyager ladies for touchdown.
With just over five ticks remaining in the half, Kauai quarterback Naomi Ikimaka found Carly Dela Cruz in the end zone for the 13-0 bulge at the break.
The Red Raiders found its final score in the third quarter when Ikimaka connected with Hiilawe Banasihan, and preserved the shutout when Mainanna Pinzon plucked a Kennedy Braun, playing quarterback, pass in the end zone.
Waimea is currently with two wins and a loss following its 20-0 win over Kapaa, and 19-6 win over Island School during last Thursday’s meetings. The Menehune dropped to Kauai High School by two touchdowns during the March 13 opener at Hanapepe.
The second contest that kicks off at 5:15 p.m. will feature Island School going up against Kapaa who is looking for its first win in the season.
Island School currently has one win, a 20-6 victory over Kapaa during the March 13 opener. The Lady Voyagers suffered two losses during last week’s meeting due to playing with a bench of just one substitute that was later eliminated following a game injury.
The third game of the evening features Waimea taking on Kapaa at a 6:30 p.m. kickoff, and the night ends when Island School goes up against Kauai starting at 7:45 p.m.
