It’s free!

Jerry Yankowitz took time out of volunteering at the Pau Hana Market on Monday to make sure everything is squared away for Friday and Saturday at the space next to Sone’s Delicatessen where the AARP Tax Aide preparers will set up to do free tax returns on a first come, first served basis … no appointments needed … just bring your paperwork and hope a preparer is available.

Melissa McFerrin Warrack of Kukui Grove said they had a couple who came last week … no, it’s this Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon, and Jerry said they have the Hawaii tax forms.

Another free event is the Pop Swap that’s supposed to happen this Saturday, and Laurie Ho had fliers of the Earth Day — Hoolaulea No Ka Honu — that the county’s Office of Economic Development is inviting everyone to at the Kauai Philippine Cultural Center on April 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The event is free and themed after celebrating native and canoe plants. Cultural demonstrations include lei making, laau lapaau demonstrations, and cooking demonstrations using native and canoe plants. And, a free screening of “Moana 2” for Earth Day participants.
