LIHUE — What is AI? How can it help me in my business?
These questions and more can be answered on Saturday when Keleana.work invites the community to its official Launch Event of AI Lab from 10 a.m. to noon at the Kuleana.work coworking space. Kuleana.work is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting small businesses on Kauai, and manages the island’s longest-operating coworking space.
Sponsored in part by an Innovation Grant from the county’s Kauai Office of Economic Development, the Kuleana AI Lab is launching from its new location in the Kukui Grove Center, and will receive the blessing led by Kumu Sabra Kauka at 10 a.m.
The Kuleana AI Lab is designed to bring the power of generative artificial intelligence, or GenAI, to the Kauai community by offering workshops, hands-on experiences and GenAI business consulting, said a Kuleana.work press release.
Following the traditional Hawaiian blessing, an introductory presentation on the lab and GenAI will follow when experts will discuss GenAI’s strengths and limitations, share research to date, and real-world applications from local organizations. The presentation will also showcase the latest in voice-enabled AI technology.
During the launch event window of 10 a.m. to noon, attendees can explore the possibilities of GenAI firsthand through live demonstrations, an educational presentation, and engaging activities for both children and adults.
An hour of hands-on AI Exploration from 11 a.m. to noon will allow adults and kids to experience AI-powered tools at interactive stations and receive coaching on how GenAI can entertain and educate at home with a demonstration of “Stump the AI.” The demonstration will show how it can enhance a business or organization and improve their work skills.
Experts will be available to answer questions throughout this free event, which is open to the public.
Kuleana AI Lab goes beyond just showcasing technology, according to the press release.
“We’re actively preparing Kauai’s workforce for an AI-driven future, providing personalized business coaching, conflict resolution strategies for organizations, localized research, and hands-on education designed specifically around local needs,” said the press release. “Our goal is to equip Kauai’s rural communities to navigate the rapid changes AI is already bringing. We are committed to building local understanding and readiness, shaped specifically by Kauai’s unique identify, culture, and values.”
