KAPAA — Waimea High School baseball pushed four runs across the plate in the fourth inning, and the Menehune found three more runs in the fifth inning on Wednesday during the Kauai Interscholastic Federation baseball game played against Waimea High School at the Ron Martin Field on the Kapaa High School campus.
KAPAA — Waimea High School baseball pushed four runs across the plate in the fourth inning, and the Menehune found three more runs in the fifth inning on Wednesday during the Kauai Interscholastic Federation baseball game played against Waimea High School at the Ron Martin Field on the Kapaa High School campus.
The Menehune, led by Jeydon Moises and Evan Yamauchi, each scoring three times, finished with an 11-1 win in a contest shortened by the 10-run rule.
Warrior Kaiten Mundon, the lead-off hitter, got aboard on a walk-off Menehune hurler Rykur Lee and scored off an RBI bang from Iden Kaui in the first inning.
Lee, who threw an all-game outing on the hill, finished by allowing a run on two hits. He struck out four Warrior batters and walked one.
On the other side of the island, Kauai High School also appeared headed for a TKO win over Island School after the Red Raiders were looking at a 9-0 lead in the third inning at Vidinha Stadium.
The next KIF baseball games occur on Saturday when Kauai High School hosts the Warriors at Vidinha Stadium. The Junior Varsity game starts at 9:30 a.m. for a 2-hour game limit. The first pitch in the varsity match goes off from noon.
At the Hanapepe Stadium, Waimea hosts Island School starting at 10 a.m.
