Okay, Spring Break started when the bell let out school on Friday afternoon. Kukui Grove and Hale ‘Opio (it’s their 50th anniversary!) partner to present the Spring Break Free Family Movie Night on Saturday.
The shopping center will have a Wicked theme throughout the day, like the Wicked-Themed K + M Market from 11 a.m.
At 4 p.m., Thrive with Movement will have its performers (remember the Holiday Lights presentation?) on stage, and Hale Opio will unleash its Wicked-themed games, crafts, and goodies before the movie (are you pink or green?) starts.
There is enough time to attend the Rotary Club of Poipu Beach’s “One Fine Evening” fundraiser at the Kauai Philippine Cultural Center.
Congratulations, Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami, on a fine 7th State of the County Address! Kumu Troy Hinano Lazaro was a gentleman and a scholar when he took the place of Kumu Leinaala Pavao Jardin, who was stuck in that Maluhia Road traffic mishap. Kumu Troy said to get tickets for the halau’s May Day quickly because there is not much room left at the Koloa Landing Resort.
He still had enough in him to check out Raider Cafe on Friday … a nice open house that showcased the collaboration and getting together of Kauai High School’s many different programs and academies, such as culinary, entrepreneurship, agriculture, art, and more. Now, how about some of that kalua and cabbage lunch?
Big Island Managing Director Bill Brilhante said he’s married to a Kauai girl, Tammy Magaoay, whom he met during a volleyball tournament at the Clem Gomes Gym, and Christy Castillo from Elderly Affairs was busy talking horses with Reese Blane, who got out of going to Kapaa Middle School because she had a part in the State of the County protocol …kudos to Kawaikini New Century Charter School for doing all of the verses for Hawaii Ponoi.
