NAWILIWILI — Kapaa High School boys and girls golf capped a beautiful golf day with victories on Saturday as the Kauai Interscholastic Federation opened the 2025 season at the Ocean Course at Hokuala.
NAWILIWILI — Kapaa High School boys and girls golf capped a beautiful golf day with victories on Saturday as the Kauai Interscholastic Federation opened the 2025 season at the Ocean Course at Hokuala.
“The Kapaa teams came ready to play and took the win for both the boys with a team score of 333 and the girls team with a score of 310,” said Paul Ito, the KIF golf coordinator.
Kauai High School boys finished in the runner-up spot with a team total of 352, 19 strokes behind the Warriors.
Waimea High School finished the outing with a boys’ team of 389. The Menehune did not field a girls team.
Graham Morgan of the Warriors team carded the top individualist score at 76, four strokes ahead of fellow Warrior Jayvin Raquel. Warrior Logan Laymon filled in the third spot of the Boys Top Three individualists a stroke back of Raquel at 81.
“The Kapaa boys shot the lowest three rounds of the day, led by Graham Morgan’s 76, Jayvin Raquel’s 80, Logan Laymon’s 81 with 96s for both Lincoln Miner-Ho and Tommy Lockwood to round out their scoring team,” Ito said.
“The Kapaa girls were led by low individualist Juliette O’Shaughnessy with an 86, Mehana Guy’s 108, and Rian Yamamoto’s 116,” Ito said. “The only golfer not from Kapaa to break into the Top Three Individual scores for boys and girls was Sydney Ito of Kauai High School, who carded an 89, chasing three strokes over O’Shaughnessy.”
The KIF golfers will next move to the Poipu Bay Golf Course on Saturday when the first groups tee off at noon.
