LIHUE — Kukui Grove Center announces the return of the Kauai Parent and Child Fair on April 5 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“This event is unique in Early Childhood circles in that it brings together so many resources in one place at one time, along with a host of fun activities and entertainment geared toward the young child,” said Alanna Souza, one of the event organizers. “Save the date for this valuable one-stop-shop for Kauai parents, educators, nonprofit groups, and agencies. The goal is to have fun, learn something, and connect.”
The Parent-Child Fair will feature booths from the participating groups, preschools, vendors, entertainment, and free activities for children provided by various agencies. These participating agencies will have important information about their programs, services, and safety precautions for infants, toddlers, preschool students, children with disabilities, and kindergarteners living on Kauai.
Melissa McFerrin Warrack of the Kukui Grove Center said the heart of this event is within the vision that Aunty Jeannie Odod of the Hawaii Department of Education created many years ago to connect our families with keiki ages 0-8 to early childhood educational programs, activities, and resources. In summary, the program prepares the young child to enter the world of public education.
During the 2024 Parent and Child Fair, more than 30 agencies and groups, along with 200 families representing nearly 1,000 community members from across Kauai, experienced and learned from the day.
McFerrin Warrack said if there are more organizations or groups interested in participating in the event with a table or resource, including activities, they can contact Alanna Souza at alanna@kauainetwork.org.
