LIHUE — The Kauai Police Activities League, or K-PAL, announced it is hosting its first middle school track meet in April.
In collaboration with Island School and Iwi Kua, K-PAL announced that students in grades 6 through 8 will now have the opportunity to enroll in the Mayor’s Youth Track and Field Meet to showcase their respective talents and compete in a safe and supportive environment.
The track meet for the new grades will begin at 9 a.m. on Friday, April 18, at Island School in Lihue. The events will include the 60-meter run, various relays, hurdle relay, 400-meter run, long jump, high jump, and shot put. The meet will be divided by grade level and gender, with an Open Mixed Division offered for relay events. Teams must consist of two boys and two girls with no grade restrictions.
In preparation for the April event, K-PAL will host a Coaches’ Meeting at the Kauai Police Department on Monday, March 3, at 5:30 p.m. All coaches are required to attend to receive important event details and updates.
Parents or Guardians interested in signing up their young athlete or interested in further information can follow the instructions below:

• For Unaffiliated Participants: Participants who are not affiliated with a school or cannot locate their school on Athletic.net may still register using the instructions provided in the link below. • For Coaches: Coaches are required to register their athletes for their respective events before the meet. All athletes must have an account on Athletic.net to be registered. The registration process will be reviewed in detail during the coaches’ meeting.
