Hit and run victim dies
LIHUE — The victim stuck on Feb. 12 by a hit-and-run driver succumbed from his injuries on Oahu on Thursday, announced the Kauai Police Department on Friday.
The 30-year-old pedestrian has been identified as Kailon Tyndzik of Wailua and is the second traffic-related fatality on Kauai for this year.
The Kauai Police Department extends heartfelt condolences to his loved ones during this difficult time.
On Feb. 13, KPD located an unattended vehicle believed to be involved in the incident. Later that day, at approximately 8:30 p.m., police officers located and arrested the driver of the vehicle, Salvin Hilario, a 54-year-old man with no permanent address.
Hilario was arrested for the offenses of Negligent Injury in the First Degree, Leaving the Scene of a Collision with Serious Bodily Injury, Driving Without a Valid Driver’s License, Reckless Driving, and Inattention to Driving.

Another member of the Hilario crime family, on his way to prison for taking a human life. It’s amazing how murder seems to run in families on this island.
