Sarah said she’s got another event coming up on Feb. 28 where she will feature the guest appearance of the Hawaii Pacific University Strings group that will join the Kauai Community College Symphony and Orchestra…stay tuned.
The Friday night music only served to preview the Saturday offering of Hank Curtis, Peggy Lake, and Laine Griffith (did they make it through before the electricity went out?). A lot of people had shortened work days as businesses closed due to no electricity.
The Kauai Quilt Show and its accompanying Boutique relied on customers’ smartphone flashlight feature to view the many quilts (I think there are still donation quilts available). Donation quilts are those pieces that the purchaser has a choice in saying which local nonprofit. Enjoys the price of the quilt.
Kudos to the Kauai Poets Society for having the used book (poetry, of course) sale where the proceeds would be turned over to the American Red Cross for fire relief (both the Maui and California wildfires).
More kudos to Lepo Wahine Shara Bucasas (she was a pau princess in the last Kamehameha Day parade) who said she’s taking a break from riding, this year. Instead, she had keiki performers from Halau Ka Lei Mokihana O Leinaala doing oli (water storage containers and baseball bats make good substitute pahu) for customers of her fountain-style drinks.
Okay, it’s another holiday…stay safe!
