LIHUE — A total of $1 million in grant funding is still available for the Life’s Choices Adult and Adolescent Mental Health and Substance Abuse Community Program Grants.
LIHUE — A total of $1 million in grant funding is still available for the Life’s Choices Adult and Adolescent Mental Health and Substance Abuse Community Program Grants.
“This year, priority consideration will be given to programs serving adolescents and young adults on Kauai,” said Prosecuting Attorney Rebecca Like. “Evidence continues to show that engaging youth in pro-social activities leads to better outcomes as adults. If your organization serves youth and is a qualifying nonprofit, we encourage you to apply.”
Organizations interested in submitting applications for the funds must provide a list with a range of programs that include: physical activity and emotional well-being along with mental health support and substance abuse treatments on the island.
They must also include manufacturing resilience and leadership training by involving mentoring and peer support, therapy and counseling, along with initiatives that encourage positive social activities for individuals of all ages, that encourage personal behavior, growth and development, but also creates community interactions that help individuals reduce substance abuse by providing healthy outlets.
Applications for the grants are due by 4 p.m. today, Feb. 14, and will only be accepted via email at opagrants@kauai.gov.
Submissions will not be accepted by postal mail, fax or in person. Proposals received after the deadline will also not be considered.
Approved applications will be announced on Feb. 24. Grants will be available from March 15, 2025, through March 14, 2026.
