LIHUE — In a successful coordinated operation, the Kauai Police Department announced the apprehension of wanted fugitive Isaiah Pongasi-Adric, 26, of Anahola on Wednesday afternoon.
Officers arrested Pongasi-Adric on multiple warrants, including a $50,000 probation revocation and several offenses of Resisting an Order to Stop a Motor Vehicle and Driving Without a Valid License.
His father, Elvin Adric, 49, of Anahola was also apprehended for Hindering Prosecution in the 2nd Degree and for allegedly assisting Pongasi-Adric in evading arrest.
Adric was released on recognizance, which means he was granted release from custody based on his written promise to appear at all scheduled court proceedings.
Pongasi-Adric, however, remains in custody with his bail set at $80,000. He had traffic violations dating back to 2016.
“We appreciate the community’s vigilance and commend our officers for bringing this case to a peaceful resolution,” said Assistant Chief Kalani Ke. “This outcome reflects the strong collaboration between KPD and the community in keeping Kauai safe. It also sends a strong message to anyone who may consider assisting those trying to evade justice.”
