Stan’s Hawaiian Style Flying Saucers was pretty much sold out (must’ve been those bicyclists — they weren’t part of the Bikes on Rice “slow roll”— who came to the Downtown Lihue Night Market looking for food). There was no Sumiko’s since they got wiped out during the Mele Makeke, but the new Kauai Treats & Eats tent was a nice stopping-off place on the way to visit Kickshaw’s.

Night Market Manager Lexi Jones and Krystl Apeles of the Alakoko Store said Saturday was a nice night to frolic in muumuu. They both had muumuu on to celebrate January being Muumuu Month (tickets for the Muumuu Paina are still available at the Kauai Historical Society website at www.kauaihistoricalsociety.org).
Kudos to Shannon Hiramoto (she’s considered the founder of Muumuu Month) and her muumuu afficionadoes for being among the first people to use Kaiaulu at the Hale Lihue (it was the former Yoneji Jewelry Store before it became Don’s Camera, the barre studio, the Ulu Room, and now, Hale Lihue) where they have a Ha Coffee bar inside. A full list of activities can be found on the Downtown Lihue website at www.downtownlihue.com.
If you’re not doing anything this morning, Victoria Lam and the Little Miso Book Mobile will be hosting Wee Wiggle Time from 9:30 a.m. Keiki up to 2 years old and their caregivers are invited. On Friday, the Little Miso Bookmobile will be joining the Kauai Historical Society, Fresh Shave (in Old Koloa Town courtyard), and Shannon Hiramoto to do Muumuu Month with the island’s keiki.
And, don’t forget … Edwin Vea and The Beach House restaurant will host its monthly craft fair on Sunday from 9 a.m. (gotta go early in order to take in the Muumuu Paina that starts at noon at the Smith’s Tropical Paradise).
