LIHUE — Walmart is inviting people to embrace a healthier lifestyle in 2025 by hosting its first Wellness Day of 2025 on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Customers can receive free BMI and blood pressure screenings as well as affordable immunizations like COVID-19, flu, RSV, tetanus, hepatitis, HPV and more at any of the nine participating Walmart stores in Hawaii, according to a Wednesday announcement.
The Hawaii Walmart stores will join a network of nearly 4,600 pharmacies across the nation to offer Wellness Day.
“A new year brings opportunities for a fresh start, and we want to support people on their health journeys,” said Kevin Host, the senior vice president of pharmacy at Walmart. “Our Wellness Day events allow customers and patients to check in on their health in an affordable and convenient way while also encouraging meaningful connections with our highly skilled pharmacy teams.”
Wellness Day also offers an opportunity for families to chat with pharmacies about topics like maintaining a healthy lifestyle, medications, recommended vaccinations and much more, including health journeys for women currently or hoping to become pregnant. Pharmacists can discuss nutrition recommendations during pregnancy and beyond, like the importance of folic acid and its impact on a growing baby’s development.
Walmart now carries combined COVID-19 and Flu A/B home tests, available over the counter. These tests can detect both COVID-19 and Flu A/B allowing families to understand when it’s important to seek further care.
Since 2014, Walmart pharmacies have hosted Wellness Days across the country which has contributed to more than 5 million free health screenings for customers. More than 4,000 Walmart stores are in areas that are experiencing a shortage of medical providers, meaning that Walmart is often the first step for health care in rural and underserved communities.
