LIHUE — Kauai High School midfielder Keira Caoagas scored two goals to lead the Red Raiders to a 6-0 victory over Island School on Saturday during the Kauai Interscholastic Federation soccer matched played at the Island School campus.
The Kauai High School boys completed a Red Raider sweep at the Voyager campus by taking its matchup 6-2 in a contest where no score sheets were available for details.
On the girls’ field, Coral Turner opened the scorebooks early when she fired off the first goal within the first two minutes of play from about 20 yards out on the leftside. Cayla Cantorna had just gone in as a substitute when the fresh pair of legs fired near point-blank range to get the ball past Island School goalkeeper Mary Magoun in the 30th minute. Bella Nakaahiki added a goal in the final minute of the first half to give Kauai a 3-0 lead.
Coming off the break, Aileah Villatora found the net in the 43rd minute before Caoagas netted her scores in the 76th and 79th minutes.
With three schedules games remaining, the Kauai High School girls holds the lead with an 8-0 record, including the latest win over Island School followed by Waimea High School finishing Saturday with a 1-0 win over Kapaa High School at the Hanapepe Stadium. The Menehune got its sole goal from Kailea Itamura for its only win against Kapaa in the home stand.
The Kapaa varsity boys and Waimea varsity boys battled to a 2-2 stalemate keep the Warriors in the driver’s seat with four wins, no losses, and now, a tie. Waimea drops to no wins, three losses, and two ties.
Hot in the chase, the Kauai High School boys, including its 6-2 win over Island School on Saturday, is now at four wins, two losses and no ties. Island School boys is at one win, four losses and a tie.
On the Junior Varsity field, Kapaa posted a 2-1 edge over Waimea at the Hanapepe Stadium.
The next soccer games will take place on Wednesday when Kapaa hosts Kauai high school at the Bryan J. Baptiste Sports Park stadium, and Waimea High School hosts Island School at the Hanapepe Stadium.
At both sites, the varsity girls start play at 5 p.m. with the varsity boys starting at 7 p.m.
