KAPAA — Starting Monday, the Satellite Department of Finance, Division of Motor Vehicles, or DMV, will be available at the Kapaa Armory, situated at 4750 Kahau Road in Kapaa.
“We are excited to announce the opening of our new Kapaa location where our residents will now have another option for motor vehicle services,” said Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami. “Mahalo to our Finance Department team for listening to the needs of our community and offering solutions that not only improve customer service, but also utilizes technology to bring us into the future.”
The Kapaa Satellite DMV will provide motor vehicle transactions, and transactions for utility payments, bus passes and tipping coupons.
Services will be by appointment only. No walk-in service or Kupuna Hour will be available at this location.
Customers of the Kapaa Satellite DMV must check in for their scheduled appointment using their mobile device. The system will notify customers on their mobile device when a representative is ready to service their requests. The customer will be directed to one of three service windows.
Customers with appointments may check in for a scheduled appointment up to 15 minutes prior to their appointment time. If the appointment holder is more than five minutes late, the appointment will be canceled.
During this period of opening, the Kapaa Satellite DMV will only offer limited services.
Customers seeking the following services should visit the Lihue DMV location. These services include driver licenses, state identification, Commercial Driver License (CDL) services, drivers permit and road testing, dealer and bank services, financial responsibility, and Periodic Motor Vehicle Inspection (PMVI) support.
The Kapaa Satellite DMV will be open to appointment holders from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday. The DMV office is closed on state and federal holidays.
To book an appointment at either the Kapaa or Lihue DMV locations, customers can visit the county’s website at www.kauai.gov/DMV and click on “Book Your DMV Appointment.” Appointments are for single transactions only. If a customer requires multiple transactions, they will need to book multiple appointments.
