Crews from Isiah’s Tree Service, servicing coconut trees in the Wailua State Park across Opaekaa Falls, discovered an adult Coconut Rhinoceros Beetle on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025. Although finding just one CRB, the crew said there were a lot of trees that displayed signs of the beetle’s impact, including holes in the trees and bitten fronds.

Kaleo Carvalho would not have been pleased to see the pair of Mylar helium balloons deflated in the 2025 display that oversaw the formal January is Muumuu Month proclamation.
