LIHUE — Multiple road closures on the east and west sides of Kauai are scheduled to begin on Monday.
From land clearing to resurfacing and sewer work, multiple projects are scheduled to take effect on Jan. 6. County officials are advising motorists to make the appropriate arrangements to accommodate the disruptions.
On the East Side, the Department of Public Works and its contractor, The Cutting-Edge Land Clearing Solutions, have announced single-lane closures at various Wailua and Kapaa locations.
Tree removal and trimming work along the roadway will affect Eggerking Road and Kanaele Road on Monday. Kipapa Road will be affected Monday and Tuesday, and Kawaihau Road will be affected from Wednesday through Jan. 13.

On the West Side, the Department of Public Works and its contractor, Maui Kupono Builders, announced lane closures for portions of Kekaha along Iwipolena Road, Mahiko Road, Iwa Street, Nene Road, Pueo Road and Elepaio Road.
The closure is necessary for road resurfacing work and is expected to be completed by Jan. 10.

In Waimea, the Department of Public Works Wastewater Management Division and its contractor, Underground Services Inc., have announced that intermittent lane closures will also take place on Monday.
Inspection of the wastewater system will affect Waimea Canyon Drive, Makeke Road, Menehune Road, Ala Wai Road, Maile Road, Ape Place, Panako Road and Kahakai Road.
During the work, small portions of these roadways will be closed to access the sewer maintenance manholes. One lane will be used to accommodate alternating traffic in both directions.

Flaggers will be positioned at all work zones to direct traffic. Access to properties will be provided; however, no parking will be allowed in the work zones. All construction work is weather permitting.
