HONOLULU — Kaiser Permanente Moanalua Medical Center announced on Wednesday the birth of its first babies of 2025, Thaddeus and Alvena Esene.
The children’s parents, Athena and Tagiilima Esene, welcomed the twins just shortly after 1:30 a.m., New Year’s Day.
Thaddeus was born first at 1:38 a.m. with a weight of 6 pounds, 9 ounces.
He was followed by twin sister Alvena entering the world at 1:47 a.m. and tipping the scales at 7 pounds, 6 ounces.
The Esene family, with the birth of the twins, now has eight children, including the six girls and one boy at home. The couple expressed their immense joy and gratitude for the birth.
Athena Esene, fondly referred to as “Wonder Woman” by her care team, and Tagiilima Esene, a dedicated minister, have shared a remarkable journey with Kaiser Permanente, the announcement said.
“It has been an incredible experience,” said Connie Conover, certified nurse midwife. “I have had the honor of sharing four pregnancies with Athena, including delivering her babies in 2018, 2022 and now, both her twins. We are so excited to welcome the Esene twins, and to have been part of this special moment. Both babies and their mom are doing well.”
Members of the dedicated OB/Gyn care team included Brandon Ing, MD, Derek Song, MD, Deanna Anaya, RN, Conover and Alaiza Dansalan, RN.
