WAIMEA – The County of Kauai Housing Agency is requesting feedback from the public following November’s community workshop for the Waimea 400 Affordable Housing Master Plan project.
The materials presented during the meeting held on Nov. 21, along with a recording of the meeting, are posted on the project website, www.waimea400housing.com.
All are invited to review and comment on any or all of the preliminary concept plans and housing types via the online survey at https://tgilinks.com/4iSbe6v.
Workshop materials are also posted at the Waimea Public Library, along with hard copies of the survey for those without internet access. Conceptual drawings will also be posted in the Lihue Civic Center, Piikoi Building next the Housing Agency offices for public viewing. These conceptual drawings include a QR code that directs the public to the project website.
Officials emphasized that the preliminary concept plans are not yet final, and the public is encouraged to share their feedback so that designs can be refined. Public input will be collected through Dec. 31.
The Waimea 400 Master Plan was published in January 2022, laying out the conceptual design and preferred uses of the 417-acre parcel acquired by the county in 2019. The master plan is the culmination of the knowledge, ideas, and input from community residents, agencies, and resource partners. Based on previous community feedback, affordable housing will comprise roughly 60 acres of the site, just west of Waimea Sunset subdivision.
The first community workshop for the Waimea 400 Affordable Housing Master Plan project was held on Feb. 20, and the second workshop was held on Nov. 21.
