KALIHIWAI — An accidental fire scorched three acres on Kauai’s North Shore Wednesday.
First responders with the Kauai Police Department responded to an emergency call at 2:55 p.m. regarding a fire near Kamookoa Road in Kalihiwai.
Kauai Fire Department firefighters with the Hanalei, Kaiakea and Kakaheo fire stations were dispatched to Kalihiwai along with Rescue 3, Tender 1, Air 1 and Air 2, and the on-duty battalion chief.
Personnel with the Kauai Emergency Management Agency also responded to the incident and stood by for additional support.
Once on scene, fire crews discovered a one-acre fire near Halaulani Road and immediately migrated the tree line to mitigate the spread with assistance from Tender 1 and aerial help from Air 1 and Air 2.
At 5:35 p.m., firefighters extinguished the fire and deemed it accidental. The scene was cleared shortly before 5:45 p.m. with no injuries or damages reported.
