NAWILIWILI — One of the reasons for success in the Matson employees’ food drive is because they are personally involved with Child and Family Service, said Matson Kauai District Manager Patrick Ono.
“They’re involved on the Westside, especially with Nana’s House,” Ono said. “One of the pillars of Matson’s corporate culture has been to improve the quality of life in the communities where our employees live and work. It is important to note that Nana’s House and Child and Family Service has been one of the organizations that our employees have been personally supportive here on Kauai. Therefore, accompanying our food presentation will be a check for $1,000 from Matson Giving program.”
The total food collection was divided equally between Hale Hoomalu that serves the Eastside, and Nana’s House located in Waimea.
With the help of Matson employees jockeying between trucks moving shipping containers, the CFS representatives, including Anna Spitvack, Stephanie Funtanilla of Nana’s House, and Dory Farias of Hale Hoomalu, the supply of assorted food was loaded into cars for transport back to Waimea and to Kapaa.
Funtanilla expressed appreciation and gratitude for the support provided by Matson.
