WAILUA — The tennis and basketball courts at Wailua Homesteads Park will remain closed until January, park officials have announced.
In September, the Department of Parks and Recreation (DOPR) announced that the courts at the park were to be closed for resurfacing work and the addition of a pickleball court, among other upgrades.
On Wednesday, DOPR along with the general contractor of the project Pacific Concrete Cutting & Coring, Inc., announced that the closure will be extended until Jan. 24.
The closure is part of the county’s $3.1 million Playcourt Resurfacing Project, including Wailua Homesteads Park, the Bryan J. Baptiste Sports Complex and Puhi Park.
All work is weather permitting. Further updates on the construction and closures of these facilities will be announced next year.
