Jerry June Louis Sr.
Jerry June Louis Sr., of Hanapepe Heights, passed away on Nov. 5, 2024, at the age of 90. He was born on June 2, 1934, in Eleele, and worked as a welder and rancher for McBryde Sugar Company.
He was preceded in passing by his children Linda Kanahele, Joseph Taboniar Jr., parents Marion and Marie Louis, siblings Herman Louis, Abel Louis, Madeline Miller and grandson Evan Louis.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Sheila Garcia-Louis, children Monica Louis-Alayvilla, Jerrlyn (George) Gregory, Jerrie (Reiko) Louis Jr., Thia (Joe) Maghanoy, sister Rosemarie Lacro, sister-in-law Marie R. Louis, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-granddaughter, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024, at Holy Cross Church Kalaheo with visitation from 8:30 to 10:15 a.m., a funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m., and burial to follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens. Flowers are welcomed and casual wear is requested by the family.

Dorothy Yoshino Higuchi
Dorothy Yoshino Higuchi, 105, of Lihue, passed away on Oct. 21, 2024, peacefully at home. She was born in Koloa on Aug. 17, 1919. She attended Koloa Elementary school and graduated from Kauai high School in 1937. Most of her career was working for Sears Roebuck where she retired after 28 years. During her retirement, Dorothy was active volunteering for Wilcox Hospital, Kauai Civic Center and Hawaii Blood Bank over the span of 30 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Shoso Higuchi, four brothers and five sisters.
Dorothy is survived by her son Rodney Higuchi, daughter Sandy (Mike) Takaezu, grandchildren Tina (Brian) Ejima and Ty (Alicia) Takaezu and service dog Pandi.
The family expresses gratitude for their services of: Dr. Lao, Wilcox Hospital, Garden Isle Rehab, Kauai Care Center, Stay at Home, Kauai Hospice Staff and her two home caregivers, Rhonda and Mary.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Dec. 7, 2024, at Lihue Christian Church. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with service to follow at 10:30 a.m.

Patrick Allan Layosa
Patrick Allan Layosa, of Kapaa, passed away on Nov. 8, 2024, at the age of 83. He was born on March 16, 1941, in Lihue. He was a retired police officer and served in the Air National Guard.
Preceded in death by parents Jesus “Gene” and Katherine Layosa.
He is survived by wife June Layosa, son Noah (Jennifer) Layosa, daughter Darci Layosa, brothers Gene “Chico” (Janet) Layosa, Michael (Patricia) Layosa, grandchildren Lily Layosa, Avery Layosa and Max Layosa.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kapaia. Visitation begins at 8:30 a.m., followed by Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m.

Charlotte Freitas Romero
Charlotte Freitas Romero, 74, passed away on Nov. 15, 2024, in Lihue. She was born on Oct. 18, 1950, in Hawaii.
She was preceded in death by parents William and Lucy Freitas, brother Anthony Freitas Sr., sister Patricia Victorino and grandson Keanu Saito.
She is survived by husband Ronald “Ronnie” Romero, daughter Desaray Saito Brown (Paka Brown), grandsons Ali‘i Brown, Larry Brown, brothers Jerome Freitas Sr., Steven (Lorna) Freitas, sister Paulette (Rodney) Bristol, numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
