LIHUE — University of Hawaii Beach Volleyball Head Coach Evan Silberstein announced the BeachBows will be participating in the Kauai Invitational from Friday to Sunday at Kalapaki Beach.
Following a rousing success in the inaugural 2023 event, Cal Poly and UCLA will join the University of Hawaii in the second edition of the tournament that will not feature pairs competition, but also community outreach on Kauai, according to the University of Hawaii press release.
“What we are building on Kauai is really something special,” said Silberstein. “From the top-notch competition to the camaraderie among the players, and most especially in spending time with the ever-gracious and welcoming Garden Island community, this event means so much to our team.”
The Kauai Invitational wraps up the University of Hawaii fall campaign, a trio of events that started in late October.
The campaign featuring pairs competition ahead of the team’s 2025 spring campaign launched with the Surf City Challenge in Huntington Beach, Calif., where the BeachBows were given the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the eventual site of the 2025 NCAA Championships that will take place next May.
Following the tournament that played on Oct. 26 and 27, the BeachBows traveled to Huntsville, Ala., Nov. 15-17 for the third annual AVCA Fall Collegiate Beach Pairs Challenge.
“From Huntington to Huntsville, our focus is to put our athletes in championship environments, play at the highest level possible, and learn every time we step on the sand,” Silberstein said. “Our student-athletes really enjoy the fall season so we’re excited for them to get these opportunities to grow, improve and have fun.”
The UH Beach Volleyball fall campaign closes with the Kauai Invitational at Kalapaki Beach.
The Rainbow Wahine return 13 players from last year’s squad that captured the Big West Championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third straight season. Among those returning are All-American Alana Embry, and all-conference players Sydney Amiatu and Sydney Miller.
