Are you ready?
The busy holiday season already started as the last notes from Sarah Tochiki’s Taps were blown away by the winds (it’s a Fire Warning Day, today!) at the Kauai Veterans Council Veterans Day Observance … The Hawaii Children’s Theatre Spongebob musical opens on Sunday with the program’s annual food drive special where patrons get a discounted admission with the contribution of nonperishable food items that will be shared between the Hawaii Foodbank Kauai (they’re partnering with the Hawai‘i Lodging and Tourism Association, Kauai for a food distribution on Saturday morning at the Kauai Philippine Cultural Center starting at 9 a.m.!), and the Kauai Independent Food Bank (East Kauai Lion Kelvin Moniz said there is time to “Take Charge of Your Health” before the start of the state football playoff game where the Division I Kailua comes to visit the Kapaa Warriors at the Bryan J. Baptiste Sports Complex with a 2 p.m. kickoff).
Spongebob continues its run at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall for two more weekends.
The East Kauai Lions and its community partners lead the day of health checks, special guest speakers and information on staying healthy through the holidays and beyond on Saturday from 8 a.m. at the Kauai Community College Fine Arts Auditorium … it’s near the Peace Pole.
And, don’t forget the large offerings of craft fairs (St. Michael’s has its fair starting at 8 a.m. with a bake sale, plant sales and lots of St. Michael’s blessings on Saturday morning) in Lihue.
Check out the Kauai Chamber of Commerce space for a full listing of all the food drives that will help fuel the extra demand for food … especially during the holidays.
