LIHUE — Kauai High School bowling coach Kyrin Sasaki predicted that action would go to the final rolls during the Kauai Interscholastic Federation bowling season.
His prediction came true as the final standings of the KIF boys title were finalized on the last roll of the season on Thursday when the Red Raiders could finally say with certainty that the Kauai teams — girls and boys — are the Central Pacific Bank KIF champions.
The Kauai boys finished by rolling to a 2,551 pinfall over Waimea boys, who marked a 2,288 pinfall, just 10 pins better than Kapaa, who finished with a 2,278 pinfall.
On the girls lanes, the Kauai High School girls, who were declared champions earlier in the season, finished with a 1,816 pinfall over the Menehune wahine’s 1,708 pinfall efforts.
With the bowling titles determined, Coach Sasaki announced the bowlers who earned eligibility to participate in the 2024 Hawaii Army National Guard Hawaii High School Athletic Association bowling championships that will roll on Nov. 7 and 8 at the Schofield Bowling Center on Oahu.
