Happy Halloween and kudos to the Kauai Community College Cognition Learning Center on a successful Exploring Fear and Phobias (did you find the necklace?) run during the weekend at the Kukui Grove Center, former Macy’s Mens location … Kauai Community College Chancellor Margaret Sanchez was one of those people waiting in line, but opted to come back at another time to experience the learning that had heavy Halloween overtones.

On the heels of the Cogs experience, artist Keith Orell (his Kauai Society of Artists artist name is KEO) opened the Art in the Dark show on Monday that will run through Halloween (yikes, that’s tomorrow!) from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the KSA gallery next to Bubbah’s Toy Box … check out the Light Side that features photographs on glass, the Dark Side and the Cabinet of Curiosities (they’re all available for sale!).
Unfortunately, Julia Diegman of the Kauai Forest Bird Recovery Project is waiting to open the Kauai Forest Bird Recovery Show (did you folks check out the endangered forest bird shirt at Reyn’s?) that opens on Friday and runs through Nov. 8 … mahalo to KSA for donating the space for this educational interactive show!
On another note, now that Halloween is pau, don’t forget the Veterans Celebration that takes place on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Vidinha Stadium soccer fields presented by the Kauai Veterans Council (yes, the traditional Veterans Day gathering will still take place on Nov. 11 starting at 11 a.m. at the Kauai Veterans Cemetery), and the Rice Street Business Association (don’t forget the Downtown Lihue Night Market that takes place on the second Saturday of the month).
