LIHUE — Kapaa High School girls volleyball, winner of the Central Pacific Bank Kauai Interscholastic Federation title, received the No. 4 seed in Division II of the New City Nissan Hawaii High School Athletic Association girls volleyball state championship.
LIHUE — Kapaa High School girls volleyball, winner of the Central Pacific Bank Kauai Interscholastic Federation title, received the No. 4 seed in Division II of the New City Nissan Hawaii High School Athletic Association girls volleyball state championship.
On Friday evening, the HHSAA announced the Division II state tournament seedings where Hawaii Baptist Academy earned the Division II top seed for the state tournament, which starts on Wednesday and continues through Saturday on Oahu.
The Hawaii Preparatory Academy of the Big Island Interscholastic Federation earned the No. 2 seed and Maui Preparatory received the No. 3 seed.
Castle High School rounded out the leaders with the No. 5 seed in the Division II tournament that will include a field of 12 teams from across Hawaii.
Other teams participating in the Division II competition include Seabury, Kohala, Parker School, Farrington and Damien.
With its No. 4 seed, Kapaa will first see action at the tournament on Thursday after getting an opening day bye. The Lady Warriors will face the winner of the No. 5 Castle and Parker School match that will play on Wednesday at Kalani High School.
While waiting on the division seedings, and following the CPB KIF title match, Kapaa Coach Paea Tafea said the Lady Warriors invited teams from Kauai and Waimea high schools to scrimmage games last week.
Kapaa High School girls volleyball finished the KIF season with 11 wins and a loss.
The top seed for the Division I tournament was awarded to Iolani School with Moanalua High School getting the second seed. Baldwin High School of the Maui Interscholastic League earned the No. 3 seed, and Kamehameha School-Hawaii is the division’s No. 4 seed.
