LIHUE — A number of road-related projects are on tap in the week ahead, as work crews look to finish off as many projects as possible in the final days leading up to the start of the rainy season on Friday, Nov. 1.
The following is a list of projects scheduled for the workweek ending Nov. 1, according to an update from the Hawaii Department of Transportation on Friday, Oct. 25. All work is weather permitting.
Eleele
A right lane closure on Halewili Road (Route 540) is possible in either direction for guardrail repairs, between mile post 2.4 to 2.7, in the vicinity of McBride New Mill Road, on Monday, Oct. 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Kaumakani
A right lane closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) is possible in either direction for guardrail reparis, between mile post 19 to 23, in the vicinity of Kaumakani Avenue and Makeke Road, on Tuesday, Oct. 29, through Friday, Nov. 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Kekaha
A right lane closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) is possible in either direction for replacement of culverts, between mile post 24.37 to 24.46, in the vicinity of Kikiaola Boat Harbor, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Kipu
A single lane closure on Kaumualii Highway (Route 50) is possible in either direction for grass cutting, between mile post 3.99 to 8.37, in the vicinity of Haiku Airstrip and Punee Road, on Monday, Oct. 28, through Friday, Nov. 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Kokee
A single lane closure on Waimea Canyon Drive (Route 550) is possible in either direction for repaving work, between mile post 11.5 to 14, on Monday, Oct. 28, through Friday, Nov. 1, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
Lihue
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction for cutting grass and trimming trees, between mile post 0 to 2.9, in the vicinity of Rice Street and Kauai Beach Drive, beginning Monday, Oct. 28, through Friday, Nov. 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
A right lane closure on Halewili Road (Route 540) is possible in either direction for tree trimming, between mile post .08 to .068, in the vicinity of Wilcox Road and Lala Road, on Monday, Oct. 28, through Friday, Nov. 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Moloaa
A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction for cutting grass, between mile post 16 to 18, on Monday, Oct. 28, through Friday, Nov. 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Princeville
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) is possible in either direction for drain line and storm manhole installations, in the vicinity of Hanalei Plantation Road and Ohiki Road, on Monday, Oct. 28, through Friday, Nov. 1, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for drain line and storm manhole installations. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
Waikoko
A makai lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) is possible in the Haena bound direction, in the vicinity of Waikoko Bridge and Lumahai Beach, for emergency slope stabilization. Pedestrian access through the work zone is restricted for safety.
Wailua Homesteads
A single lane closure on Kuamoo Road (Route 580) is possible in either direction for road reconstruction and resurfacing as part of the Kuamoo Road Resurfacing project, between mile post 0 to 3.9, in the vicinity of Kuhio Highway and Hawaiiana Road, on Monday, Oct. 28, through Friday, Nov. 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. .
