LIHU‘E — The Hawaii Healthcare Association of Hawaii will be hosting a Community Health Needs Assessment on behalf of Hawaii hospitals on Oct. 30 in conjunction with the YWCA monthly Community Resource Day at the YWCA main building located across Hardy Street from the state building.
“Come and talk story about the health needs in ourselves, our ohana, and our community,” said Abigail Naaykens and Renae Hamilton-Cambeihl of the YWCA of Kauai. “Come, join us to share your thoughts on community health and help shape the future of care on Kauai.”
The Community Health Needs Assessment is held every three years. The forum on Oct. 30 will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. with pupu at the YWCA Kauai, coinciding with the end of the monthly Community Resource Day, which is held on the last Wednesday of each month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“Accessing health care and essential services in rural areas can be challenging, which is why the YWCA Kauai hosts the monthly Community Resource Day — to make it easier for our community to connect with the support they need,” Naaykens said.
During the Community Resource Day, patrons can expect to see the Hoola Lahui Mobile Clinic, which offers comprehensive medical care on a sliding scale. Walk-in appointments may be available on a first-come first-served basis.
The YES Project Mobile outreach will be available to students in unstable housing, and Project Vision will have basic vision exams and service available.
Additionally, the Hawaii Foodbank Kauai will have a food distribution for individuals and families in need.
