The University of Hawai’i Board of Regents voted to appoint Wendy Hensel as the next president of the University of Hawai’i’s system on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2024. Hensel spoke during a press conference as UH Board of Regents members standby at Bachman Hall on Thursday.

Wendy Hensel, executive vice chancellor and university provost for The City University of New York, will take over the University of Hawaii system in January — earning an annual salary of $675,000 — after UH regents unanimously selected her Thursday.
