Above: Bronson Pactanac, of Bees and Teas (it used to be Da Hive), watched a young surfer negotiate the white water off the Pk’s and Reform break on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2024, when a National Weather Service high surf advisory covered the east-facing shores from Princeville to the South Shore. Pactanac was one of the vendors at the Beach House monthly craft fair. Kahu Kerry Holder-Joffrion, of the West Kauai United Episcopal Church, offered to pay for the watermelon that decided it would suicide at the Pau Hana Market, but the offer was declined. Kahu Kerry, Greg Williams, Tiffany Watkins, and Tiffany’s mom, Angela Whitt of Huntsville, Ala., were back with the Saint Paul’s Tomatoes (can’t believe how big those Roma are) that benefit the Hawaiian Children’s Choir.
