LIHUE — The County of Kauai’s Solid Waste Division is currently accepting grant applications for projects that increase recycling and waste diversion consistent with recommendations put forward in the most recent Integrated Solid Waste Management Plan update.
LIHUE — The County of Kauai’s Solid Waste Division is currently accepting grant applications for projects that increase recycling and waste diversion consistent with recommendations put forward in the most recent Integrated Solid Waste Management Plan update.
The plan represents a road map of the county’s vision for the future management of municipal solid waste. The planning goal was to develop a financially feasible plan for the residents and businesses that maximizes waste diversion, ensures adequate disposal capacity and protects the health of Kauai.

Project examples include diverting food waste and recyclables from the landfill, reuse programs, upcycling projects and other programs directly related to recycling and waste diversion.
A total of $40,000 is available in the new competitive grant program, which is open to 501 (c) 3 nonprofits. The deadline for submitting a grant application is Nov. 8 at 3 p.m.
