LIHUE — Registered voters in the County of Kauai should begin receiving ballot packets for the 2024 General Election next week.
Ballot packets are scheduled to be mailed on Oct. 15 for the general election, which takes place on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
“If you receive a ballot packet for someone who is no longer at the address, please write, ‘NOT AT THIS ADDRESS,’ and place it back in the USPS mail,” the Office of the County Clerk said in an update on the ballot process on Friday. “The returned ballot packet will be used to flag the corresponding voter’s registration record and help to identify outdated records in the voter file.”
The Office of the County Clerk also advised voters, who used to receive mail through a post office box at the now closed Kealia Post Office, to reregister to vote with a new mailing address if they have not done so.
“Unlike regular mail, the United States Postal Service (USPS) cannot forward a ballot packet to a voter’s new mailing address even if a voter completed a USPS forwarding order. Voters who reregister after October 15th will be sent a ballot in a later mailing,” the Office of the County Clerk said.

• Elections Division, 4386 Rice Street.
• Hanapepe Neighborhood Center, 4451 Puolo Road.
• Kalaheo Neighborhood Center, 4480 Papalina Road
• Koloa Neighborhood Center, 3461 Weliweli Road.
• Waimea Neighborhood Center, 4556 Makeke Road.
The second set of drop boxes will open on Oct. 18 at the following locations:
• Aloha Petroleum Menehune Food Mart, 4521 Kolo Road.
• Church of the Pacific, 4520 Kapaka Road.
• Hanalei Neighborhood Center, 5-5358 Kuhio Highway.
• Kapaa Public Library, 1464 Kuhio Highway.
The drop boxes will be accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week until 7 p.m. on Nov. 5. Ballots must be received, not postmarked, by 7 p.m. on Nov. 5, in order to be processed.
