The Kauai Bonsai Club will probably be at the Kauai Matsuri Festival 2024, which opens from 9:15 a.m. and runs through 3 p.m. at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall with free admission to a day of Japanese culture, including taiko drumming, food (inspired by bento?), mochi making, kanzashi making, ikebana, origami, calligraphy, a tea ceremony, japanese dancing, a cosplay contest, kendama contest, musubi making contest and craft vendors.
People are able to do a quick visit before breaking away for the HowlOween doggie costume parade at the Kukui Grove Center that starts at 2 p.m., with an anticipated appearance by the Showtime Characters Pluto trying to compete with the rest of the doggies.
Finally, there will be a scramble for parking for the Rice Street Block Party that runs from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. along the stretch of Rice Street from Umi to Kalena/Hardy streets … What? 80 vendors? Three stages? No wonder Chantal Zarbaugh of Kauai Federal Credit Union is happy doing entertainment shuttle.
And, if you need more excitement, Edwin Vea said The Beach House Craft Fair happens on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. near the Prince Kuhio Park (remember, Hoona Road is one-way!) with his field of crafters coming up with a preview of holiday shopping.
