WAILUA — In 1803 the first horse made its appearance on Kauai and was presented as a gift to King Kamehameha I. Two hundred and twenty-one years later, horses on Kauai continue to be a big part of the community and have become exceptional therapy animals.

Specialist to talk about large whale entanglement responses

PORT ALLEN — During the 2023 to 2024 humpback whale season (when the whales are in Hawaiian waters from Nov. 1 through May 30), the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration reported seven different entangled humpback whales that elicited 11 on-water response efforts mounted over an extremely busy two-month period.
