HAENA — A no swimming and ocean activities advisory was issued for Haena Beach Park and Makua Beach area after a tiger shark was spotted in the water off Haena on Monday afternoon.
Ocean Safety Bureau officials said the tiger shark was approximately 10 feet in length. As a precaution, officials posted warning signs and will continue to monitor the area.
“Lifeguards will reassess the area on Tuesday,” the Ocean Safety Bureau said in a report on the issue. “If there are no other sightings, Haena will reopen to ocean activities at noon on Tuesday. Updates will be provided if more information becomes available.”
